Trip to Victoria March 2011

Wednesday 2nd March 2011
Welcome to our new blog address after someone else took a liking to Drinkys Trails and used it to publish some new drinks???? Better than it being turned into a porno site I suppose.
Anyway we are on the road again for a few weeks. Ray has a mate in Port Albert, Victoria and we are heading down there so the two old buddies can go fishing if the weather is kind.
On our first day away from home, we travelled to a spot called Congo which is about 10km south east of Moruya on the ocean. We had no power or running water and had the old drop toilets and still had to pay $10 a head for the privilege. But..... it was a lovely place, quiet, lots of wild birds. We may come back for a few days some other time.

Well today we moved on to Twofold Bay at Eden. We don't travel too far on a daily basis. That is one of the many advantages of retirement. You don't have to travel too far each day. We went for a long walk along the beach and the black sand was making interesting patterns on the beach.

We travelled a bit further today and went to Lakes Entrance. It was a fairly cool day with a brisk breeze blowing. We stopped at Cann River for morning tea and met this delightful old fellow who wanted to talk to ray about the towing hitch on the van. He had this most amazing dog, which I have never seen before - a Russian Terrier. A great big black dog with a curly coat and very friendly. When we arrived at Lakes Entrance we went to a caravan park which only had 2 sites for vans. All of the other sites were cabins. So  we stayed and had our own en suite. We spoilt ourselves. We had to put the heater on as it  was a bit chilly.

Happy Birthday Lee. It is hard to believe that my baby is 37 today. Where have all of those years gone. We moved on to Yarram today which is in the South Gippsland are of Victoria. It is about 8km from the coast. Rays friend lives at Port Albert which is at the east of Wilsons Promontory. The weather is still a bit breezy and a little cool.
See  you next time.
